From a childhood TV appearance to the Playa de Palma — a summer portrait

When in the late afternoon the heat shimmers over Playa de Palma and the beach vendors are still adjusting their parasols, you know: the promenade will soon get loud. For some it's the call of the ice cream sellers, for others the first bass thump from the Megapark. This summer a voice familiar to an entire Schlager generation is mixing in there – Marie Reim.

Her debut on the big Ballermann stage fell on April 17. Since then she says she has sung at the Megapark several times; the number is around four appearances, and another evening in August is already being planned, though the exact date is still open. The reactions? According to Marie, a surprisingly warm welcome: applause, rows of people singing along, and colleagues from the scene — such as Kristina Bach's comeback — who help behind the scenes with advice and a friendly word.

The special thing: Marie brings a classical Schlager tradition onto the party mile. As the daughter of Matthias and Michelle Reim, access to musical practice was laid in her cradle, yet she emphasizes that her path and her work did not simply 'fall into her lap'. With the clear aim of bringing traditional Schlager hits onto the Megapark stage as well, she wants to show that the genre has more facets than just danceable party shoes — and that singing along still works wonderfully even with an older chorus.

She stood on stage early: her first major TV appearance was at the age of twelve. Later, in 2024, she finished sixth in the German ESC national selection — an experience that gave her something artistically, but does not represent a fixed plan for repetition. Currently the focus is on live performances and new releases: a few days ago her single 'Auf allen Sprachen (Te Quiero)' was released, which she also brings to the Playa.

Privately, Marie lives with former goalkeeper Raphael Wolf in Düsseldorf; a possible second home in Mallorca has already been discussed, but there are no concrete steps yet. A piece of the island is nevertheless close to her heart: she names Cala Mondragó as her favorite beach, a place that carries childhood memories and where she finds peace away from the promenade.

This has a small but noticeable effect on Mallorca: when young performers consciously present classic Schlager pieces on Playa de Palma, as with Chanelle Wyrsch's shift to music, a different audience mix emerges. The scene becomes more colorful through a generational blend; families, regulars and partygoers meet to the same melody, and that often feels just right on warm summer nights. On the promenade you then hear not only the usual latest hits, but also melodies that grandparents and grandchildren can hum together.

What does this mean for the island? It is a small cultural moment: showing Schlager in its diverse forms instead of dismissing it as just a party cliché. For organizers it means: courage for musical mixing. For guests: the chance to experience an evening that combines loud laughs, familiar choruses and maybe new favorite songs. For Marie Reim herself it is the opportunity to carry a personal sound onto one of Spain's most famous stages.

When in the coming weeks the sun sets and the first lights of the promenade come on, it's worth taking a look at the staggered opening 2026. Whether it leads to an actual second home or to more fixed dates throughout the year — the small mix of classic Schlager and Ballermann energy is already a summery enrichment for Mallorca.
