Palma: Streets Closed Over the Weekend – What Drivers and Bus Users Need to Know

On Saturday evening and over the weekend, Palma again sees barrier cones in action: A small fair (Fira del Variat) takes place at Plaça Pere Garau, and the Cursa Nocturna Sa Murada runs through the city center. As a result, closures around the plaza and several street blocks will be temporarily impassable.

Times to remember

Pere Garau: From 3:00 PM on Saturday, the Plaça is fully closed to traffic. The closure remains in place until around 3:00 AM Monday morning. If you plan to leave by car on Sunday morning, keep this in mind.

Night Run (Cursa Nocturna): Between 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM parts of the city center are affected. Specifically: Carrer Antoni Maura (between the Customs Building and Plaça de la Reina) as well as parts of Conquistador and Palau Reial toward Mirador. The exit from the parking garage at Parc de la Mar via Antoni Maura is also closed during this time.

Which bus lines run differently

The city transport company has redirected several lines or announced stop removals. Affected include: L5, L27, L28, L39, L40, Nit Bus 3, and line 25 (the latter mainly on the evening of the race).

\n

Important for commuters: Stops numbers 210, 211, 209, and 1319 in the Pere Garau area are temporarily canceled. Line 25 detours during the race to Avinguda Argentina – Jaume III – Plaça de la Reina.

Tips for drivers and residents

If you can manage, leave the car at home. On foot or by bike many central areas are faster than by taxi on Saturday. A taxi driver I met called it a 'weekend to dodge' – and that sums it up well.

Parking garages around the Passeig- and Parc-de-la-Mar area are often full on such days. Allow extra time, or park a little farther out and take the bus (watching the detours) or the short tram/metro connection if possible.

Who should particularly watch out

\n

Delivery services, buses, and visitors with limited mobility: Please follow EMT guidance and set off earlier if necessary. Pedestrians should also avoid closed routes – police are strictly controlling the barriers, especially during the race.

In short: Today it pays to check your phone for traffic updates. The closures are organized, but they cause traffic jams and detours. If you need to get into or out of Palma calmly — start earlier or choose a quiet side route. And yes, a little stroll around the fair can be nice if you don\'t have your car right in front of the barrier.
