In southwestern Mallorca, things get festive again: From October 17 to 26, 2025 Santa Ponça hosts the big Oktoberfest—with beer, roast chicken, and brass music.
Celebrate like at home, but with a sea breeze
If you are in the mood for lederhosen, beer mugs and Bavarian delicacies, mark the date: the big Oktoberfest in Santa Ponça starts this year on Friday, October 17 and runs until Sunday, October 26. The spectacle is, as always, set on the grounds at the old windmill of Son Bugadelles — the tent canvas is often there, whether at the Christmas market or now for the beer festivals.
What lands on the plate and in the mug
The organizers again rely on what worked well last year: no experiments, only tried-and-true classics. The menu features roast chicken, pretzels and pork knuckles, accompanied by Hofbräu beer from Munich served in real Maßkrugs. Catering and pour service this time is handled by a well-known island innkeeper whom many visitors already know from previous festivals—and yes, the staff will again be walking around in dirndls and lederhosen. If you love the scent of freshly roasted chicken: the tent smells of autumn and roasting meat, that’s guaranteed.
Opening hours, admission and capacity
The festival tent seats around 1,000 guests. It is open Monday to Friday from 13:00 to 23:00, while on Saturdays and Sundays the program starts at 11:00 (closing at 23:00). An advantage for spontaneous visitors: admission remains free again this year. If you are planning special tables or larger groups, come early — the best seats fill quickly.
Setup, atmosphere and memories
Setup, according to the organizers, begins a week before the tapping; next Wednesday the trucks roll in and the decoration teams put up blue-and-white banners. You can feel the organizers want a hearty, down-to-earth party, not hip gimmicks — and that seems to resonate. Last year not only residents and German tourists turned up, but also many Spanish-speaking visitors who, between sangria and paella, felt like saying Prosit. And yes: famous faces sometimes show up. Not everything went smoothly last year — an unplanned stage appearance made headlines — but most people remember the togetherness, the music and the good feeling of celebrating again in a big crowd.
A quick, practical note: bring something warm. Evenings by the sea cool down faster than you think. And trust me, a seat in the tent with a view of the stage is worth it.
