Autumn sunshine in Sóller – a mild start to October
A golden, mild autumn day in Sóller: clear air, warm brioches on Carrer de sa Mar and perfect conditions for a hike into the Tramuntana or a relaxed café visit at the Port.
Autumn sun in Sóller: a day to spend outdoors
This morning Sóller almost seemed as if the island had decided to let summer linger for a moment: a brilliantly blue sky, mild air and people sipping their café con leche on the Plaça Constitució without jackets. Not the crowds of high summer, but a lot of calm – locals, a few hikers and children with small dogs dashing up and down, much like Sóller on October 4: Cloudy, mild and perfect day for outings.
Temperatures, feel and daily life
The thermometer started at about 18 °C and climbed during the day to around 24 °C. In the late afternoon it will remain pleasantly warm at about 21 °C, and the night promises a mild 19 °C. The measured values match well with what you feel: no sudden gusts, no unpleasant chill – rather soft light and the slower walking pace of the residents.
In the alleys you hear the clatter of cups, the distant cry of a seagull from the harbour and now and then the church ringing on the hour. The brioches in the small bakery on Carrer de sa Mar are still warm, and the street cafés today are seated more by Mallorcans than October tourists – a mix that feels right.
Air, wind and the Serra
The air is dry-mild with about 47 % humidity, and the air pressure is stable around 1022 hPa. A light north wind of about 2 m/s brings fresh air from the Serra de Tramuntana, noticeable but not disturbing. Cloud cover is minimal and the chance of rain is practically zero – ideal conditions for outdoor activities.
Anyone planning a tour into the Serra de Tramuntana can set off without heavy packing. The path toward Muleta was already lively this morning: locals in waterproof shoes, guests with hiking poles and some families on short walks. At Port de Sóller a few boats lay quietly in the water, ready for a relaxed spin along the coast.
Tips for the day
For the afternoon it's worth considering the historic train to Palma or the little tram to the harbour. The light between about 16:30 and 18:30 is especially soft – very photogenic for the old houses, the orange trees and the shady squares. If you stay out longer, take a light jacket: in the evening the temperature falls gently, not suddenly.
Quick checklist for the outing: bring water, comfortable shoes, a camera and enough time to sit in a cafeteria and watch everyday life. Not much effort, but many small impressions. See Cozy, Cloudy but Dry: Sóller on October 3, 2025 for a similar report.
Why this matters
Such mild October days show how varied autumn on Mallorca can be: not just transitional weather, but an invitation to enjoy the island in peace. The mix of the Tramuntana scent, the soft roar of the sea and the sound of cups on the square turns the day into a small moment of respite – for locals and visitors alike.
All in all: a simple, good autumn day in Sóller. No spectacle, but precisely because of that beautiful – ideal to be outdoors once more before the cooler months set in. See Sóller on 8 October 2025: A mild autumn day to take a breather.
