Group of young hikers walking along a coastal path on Menorca with sea views

Youth Hike along the Camí de Cavalls: Five Days of Sea, Stone Paths and Community

The island council is once again offering young people from Mallorca a discounted five-day hike along Menorca's legendary Camí de Cavalls. Ferry, accommodation and meals included – register by August 12.

Off to the island: The Camí de Cavalls is calling

When the waves crash against the rocks and the crickets start chirping along the coast in the evening, Menorca is only a short hop from Mallorca. For young people between 18 and 30 years old, the island council is once again opening the doors to a five-day youth hike along the historic Camí de Cavalls, as described on the Youth Hike on the Camí de Cavalls: Menorca Calls – Five Days of Nature, Sea and Community. If you’re in the mood for sea air, rocky paths and new acquaintances, read on.

What’s included in the package?

The program is practical: ferry, accommodation, meals and supervision are included – and all for only 98 euros, because the island council subsidizes the activity. Up to 100 participants can join; there are two date blocks in September (one at the very start, a second in the middle of the month), so you can choose the window that suits you. Departure is usually organized from Mallorca, typically via the ferry ports to Maó or Ciutadella.

The route: A classic with sea views

The Camí de Cavalls circles Menorca and offers a mix of flat coastal stretches, rocky paths and viewpoints from which you can look out over the azure sea for kilometers. On the route are hidden coves like Cala Mitjana or Cala Macarella, rugged cliffs, small villages and quiet beaches where you can dip your feet in the water in the evenings. The group walks in sections so less trained participants can keep up — the pace is communal and not competitive.

More than just covering kilometers

Beyond the daily stages, it’s the simple things that linger: the sound of the surf as you fall asleep, the crackle of candles or small guitar chords on a hostel terrace, cooking together or helping each other with wet hiking boots after a short rain shower. Evenings are intentionally open: conversations, games or simply quietly watching the sunset over the bay. For many participants, these moments become the lasting memories.

Who is the hike suitable for?

The tour is ideal for anyone who enjoys nature and activity, wants to meet new people and doesn’t have to be a professional hiker. You should be physically fit enough to walk several hours each day on uneven ground. A backpack, weatherproof clothing, good footwear and curiosity are the most important companions. The supervisors are experienced and pay attention to safety and group dynamics.

How to register

Interested parties can register until August 12. Places are in demand, so a quick response pays off. Information on registration, exact dates and meeting points (often ferry departures from Palma or Alcúdia) can be found on the Excursión juvenil por el Camí de Cavalls de Menorca – ¡Regístrate ahora! or through the usual youth networks. Tip from the island: an early packing list and light luggage greatly increase the fun factor.

Looking ahead

These hikes bring more than nice photos: they create connections, build confidence and open a new view of the Balearic region. Anyone who has once walked barefoot on warm sand, felt the wind on their face and laughed with others at sunset will carry a piece of Menorca in their heart for a long time. So: pack your backpack, book the ferry and join in – the Camí de Cavalls is waiting.
