More buses between Magaluf and Palma: Line 104 runs more frequently during the day
From Monday buses will run every 10–15 minutes during the day — good news for hotel staff and commuters
On Monday a denser timetable comes into effect on TIB Line 104. The Balearic government has increased the service: during the day the intercity buses between Magaluf and Palma will now run mostly at ten- to fifteen-minute intervals. For many commuters this means less waiting at the stop and more predictable journeys to work.
If you stand at the stop by the Paseo Marítimo early in the morning you can already see it: suitcases, towels and thermoses mixed with work shoes and uniforms. A recent survey from Calvià shows that around every second person working in hotels uses the bus to get to work. For this group a denser frequency is more than just comfort — it is a guarantee of everyday life.
More buses do not automatically mean empty roads, but they quickly relieve certain commuter flows. Especially during rush hour between 6:30 and 9:30 am and late afternoon there could be fewer individual car trips. This reduces stop-and-go traffic on the MA-1 towards Palma and at least temporarily lowers noise and emissions along the coast. (More Buses for the School Start: Palma Eases Morning Traffic.)
You can notice the change not only in frequency. At busy stops like the one at the port of Magaluf or at Plaça d'Espanya in Palma there are more staff, shorter queues and less crowding when boarding. For tourists who want to go to Palma spontaneously this means: more predictable trips without the hassle of finding parking in the city. Of course a more frequent bus also brings challenges. Passengers should pay attention to changed departure times and plan ahead of major peak hours. A useful habit: have your ticket or app ready before the trip to allow for short stops at the stops.
For businesses along the route the denser schedule can be an advantage. Hotels and restaurants that need staff from different places in the morning benefit from more stable arrival times. At the same time the service is an invitation to commuters to use the bus more often — a small step for traffic, a noticeable one for quality of life in the communities along the route.
On Mallorca, where the roads quickly fill up in summer, such adjustments are important. And they can be observed in everyday life: fewer cars honking at the roundabout, calmer arrivals at work, a few extra minutes to check emails while boarding or to safely accompany children to school.
My tip: Those who regularly commute between Magaluf and Palma should try the new timetable in the coming days. Just a few bus rides can show whether the changes actually make the commute more relaxed. For everyone else: more connections are always an invitation to leave the car at home more often — and that's good news for Mallorca.
