Onto the Mat in Llubí: Yoga del Mar Spirit Festival Celebrates the "New Earth"
At the end of August the Finca Only Summer in Llubí becomes a calm retreat: four days of yoga, breathwork, gong and live music under Mallorcan sunshine. An alcohol-free festival with children, market stalls and a focus on sustainability.
Onto the mat in Llubí: Four days between breath and evening music
At the end of August the small Finca Only Summer in Llubí fills its gravel paths again with yoga mats, barefoot walkers and people who trade city noise for chirping and village talk for a few days. From August 28 to 31 the Yoga del Mar Spirit Festival invites you to four days of Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, breathwork, gong sessions, workshops and short talks — a mix of calm practice and festival atmosphere.
The theme: New Earth — returning to simple connection
This year’s theme is New Earth. Not grand slogans, but a call to arrive more in the body: out of the head, into the feet, to listen — also to nature. In the mornings you can smell rosemary and freshly baked bread from the stalls; in the evenings the lingering warmth plays with the lanterns, and somewhere the village church bell chimes softly in the late hour. Those who practice here often do so barefoot on gravel, with views of gnarled olive trees and a shade of blue only the Mallorcan summer can produce.
Program: Practice meets practice
The schedule includes daily Hatha yoga — Encyclopaedia Britannica and Vinyasa classes for active bodies, Yin and restorative sessions to wind down, breathwork circles, and gong and sound-healing sets that carry the evenings. Workshops teach breathing techniques, Mallorca Mindful Movement – Un estudio para cuerpo y alma and practical ideas for a more sustainable everyday life — not through woo-woo jargon but grounded and actionable. For the curious there are sessions specifically aimed at festival newcomers.
Music, market stalls and family area
When the sun sinks lower the field turns into a small open-air stage. International acts like Janax Pacha, The Hanuman Project, Nasiri and Dunes provide live sets that range from soothing soundscapes to danceable electronic chords. Market stalls offer local food, eco-friendly crafts and small design pieces. A separate children’s area also makes the festival attractive for families — practical for parents who want to move between meditation and workshops.
Practical information
The festival is alcohol-free and strongly focused on slowing down. Overnight stays are possible in your own van, in a rented tent or in VIP glamping with a mattress and a bit of comfort. Tickets are available for the full program, single days, the weekend or as a friend pass for four people. Mallorca residents receive 10% off with the code RESIDENT — a small thank-you to the neighbours.
Small but sensible tips: good socks for cool nights, a light jacket (it cools down surprisingly quickly) and a refillable water bottle. If it’s your first time: plan some time to wander the lanes of Llubí, have a coffee on the Plaça and soak up the relaxed village atmosphere.
Why the festival matters for Mallorca
Events like this not only bring visitors to the hinterland, they revitalize local businesses and raise awareness for sustainable offerings. Market stalls with regional products support small producers; families find a quiet alternative to the beach experience; and local actors — landlords, farmers, craftsmen — benefit from an extended season. In Llubí, where streets are often quieter in summer, a small, colorful bustle arises for a long weekend without loud noise.
If you want to make the world a little quieter, this is the place for it — with the island’s typical sounds: crickets, dogs barking in the distance, the occasional motorbike purring through the village, and the settling down of thoughts that already quiet after a few breaths.
