Those who wish can donate one kilo of non-perishable food to the local aid organisation SOS Mamás and receive a colourful balloon in thanks. The initiative combines festive spirit with a practical impulse: a few cans, a packet of rice — for many families in the region this can matter in the post-Christmas period.

For the people of the village the Reial Campament is more than an event for tourists. It brings life to the narrow streets around the Carrer Major: families amble to the camp after dinner, old acquaintances stop for a chat, and the church clock counts the hours.
