Chrome, Art and a Hint of Espresso: Car Week 2025 in Andratx
Vintage cars, design pieces and rolling galleries: The Car Week in southwest Mallorca combines motor romance with art and social commitment — an autumn happening in Andratx.
When engines purr and brushstrokes gleam
It smells of wax and espresso, a camera clicks somewhere — and in the middle of the Autumn Fairs in Mallorca (10–12 Oct 2025), vintage cars, race cars and design objects roll along Mallorca's streets. Car Week 2025 in Andratx once again set in motion the mix of show, rally and culture. In the morning in Andratx you see people in light jackets polishing fenders, while a fishing boat gently hums in the bay. Children stop, eyes wide, when a Jaguar E-Type passes by. These are the images that make the event here so special.
Concours, drives and a gallery on wheels
The official highlight awaits on the spacious grounds of the Golf d'Andratx: the Concours d'Elegance, a kind of beauty contest for cars where form, color and origin are judged with a critical eye. Judging begins around 11:00 AM, admission is 10 euros per person; young people under 16 enter free. Those who arrive early secure a spot by the fairway and see the cars in the morning light — a scene well worth it.
Alongside the Concours, the drives form calm but impressive road tours. The Russell Stevens Drive winds along narrow country roads flanked by palm trees and almond groves. At the Women's Art Drive the vehicle becomes the exhibit: visitors drove, among other places, to the Sa Bassa Blanca museum and saw a Maserati Ghibli presented as an art object in Palma's Gerhardt Braun Gallery. A gallery on wheels — and the audience applauds not only the roar of the engines but also the visual feast.
More than just the smell of petrol: social engagement
What is refreshing about the Car Week is that glamour is paired with responsibility. Part of the proceeds goes to local aid projects, specifically programs that support young families with food and baby supplies. Volunteers pack boxes, list donations and load sacks with practiced hands. This practical help gives the event weight: you can feel that more remains after the weekend than polished chrome.
Art on wheels and small cultural islands
The project “Arte Sobre Ruedas” brings galleries and vehicle designers together. Cars serve as rolling canvases — sometimes painted in bold colors, sometimes reduced to clean lines. In the evenings parking lots turn into small cultural islands: dinners, short concerts, gala evenings. Not all program items are inexpensive, but for design fans and collectors the week becomes a true happening. The mix of classic automobile enthusiasm and contemporary art is rarely as harmonious as it is here between olive groves and pines.
A tip for locals: plan for the morning if you want to experience the cars in the best light. Later it gets busier and louder; the park paths then become a puzzle that the locals solve with a shrug and a calming Mallorcan “Tranquilo”. Those who prefer to stay away from the hustle can find small street cafés in Port d'Andratx that serve strong coffee and offer a view of passing beauties.
Car Week 2025 shows how different worlds can come together: style, the road and solidarity. For everyday life in Mallorca it means more than a special weekend — it is a reminder that Autumn Festivals in Mallorca can also have a local impact: traders, restaurants and service providers benefit, volunteers make new connections, and people go home with a warm feeling. At some point someone always shouts loudly: “Look at that exhaust!”, and everyone laughs along. That's what an autumn day in southwest Mallorca sounds like.
