Caro and Andreas Robens run their estate in Ses Palmeres with five dogs and a cat. The newest addition, the female Cane Corso Wilma, stirs up commotion — and leads to more dog houses in the park. A small, heartfelt story about everyday life, responsibility and island living.
Warm Paws, Big Plans: The Robens, Their New Cane Corso and Villa Life in Mallorca
In Ses Palmeres, a quiet corner of the municipality of Llucmajor, mornings are not only marked by the scent of espresso. A young Cane Corso named Wilma is now shaking up the neighborhood. Caro and Andreas Robens live on a plot of around 2,000 square meters with about 300 square meters of living space and now share their home with five dogs and a cat. Family life has gained a new, lively dimension as a result.
When you stand at the driveway, the first sound you hear is the clatter while Andreas recently assembled the new dog houses: a screwdriver on gravel, a friendly call, neighbors driving by to greet. The houses now stand in the property's park area; the garage and cellar also serve as retreats. The goal is to better structure the dogs going forward so that the living room and spa areas remain calmer — especially when the owners spend their days following their Iron Gym routine at Playa de Palma.
Wilma is still a youngster, destined to grow into a stately dog of about 50 kilos. Young, clumsy and curious — a trait visible in the little "renovation casualties" around the house. Still: it's clear that the Robens care for the youngster with a lot of love. Little Christmas hats are already being discussed, and both parents are coming to visit soon — a surprise is still pending.
Since moving in in spring 2024, the two have invested a lot of time in the house. A solarium was recently installed in the spa area, and besides interior work they continue to dream: Andreas has plans for an outdoor fitness area at Playa de Palma, inspired by classic outdoor training spots. That brings life to the area and acts as a small boost for neighbors and customers along the coast.
Practically, the dogs already have a bit of freedom thanks to a dog flap. Still, the Robens make sure the animals are not left alone for too long: currently it is usually three to five hours while gym duties or other appointments wait. For dog owners on the island this is a familiar balancing act between work and care; many solve it with dog walkers from the neighborhood or by creating dedicated resting spots on the property — exactly what Caro and Andreas have recently expanded.
The scene feels homey: late in the morning sunshine fills the garden, the olive trees cast slender shadows, and from the road the distant roar of the sea can be heard. Dogs lying in cozy huts, a spa with a solarium and people dividing the day between customers at the Iron Gym and housework — it's a picture you see often here, but rarely told so openly and warmly.
For other dog owners on Mallorca the example can be inspiring: well-thought-out outdoor spaces, high-quality insulated dog houses for cooler days, set pickup and feeding times, and coordination with local vets and trainers make everyday life easier. Those who look closely also see the positive dynamics: renovation work and business plans create tasks for local craftsmen and service providers — a small local effect not to be underestimated.
And so the mood remains pre-Christmas, albeit with barking mischief and occasional floppy-eared charm. The Robens carry on: gym, house and dog houses — and in the middle of it all the new Wilma, who will soon likely find her favorite spot on the terrace. A small, lively reminder that life in Mallorca is not just postcards, but people and animals drawing closer when it matters.
