Alcúdia on September 19: Clouds, Sea Air and Walks Instead of Sunbathing
A late-summer interlude in Alcúdia: dense clouds, pleasant temperatures around 26–27 °C and hardly any rain. Perfect for harbour coffee, market visits and long coastal walks — not for continuous sunbathing.
A late-summer interlude on Mallorca's north coast
In Alcúdia, September 19 feels like a breather between hot summer days and the first hint of autumn: clouds dominate the sky, yet it remains pleasant and, above all, dry. This echoes the earlier report in Leisurely Cloudy Late-Summer Day in Alcúdia: Still Beach, Already Autumn. Those who come with open plans should think more about walks and discoveries than intensive tanning — the air, however, constantly carries the scent of the sea and freshly brewed coffee.
Temperatures: Comfortable but not oppressive
The thermometer is unexciting today: just over 23.2 °C in the morning and up to about 27.8 °C in the afternoon. Early risers strolling the Passeig Marítim around 7:15 feel the cooler breeze that makes the palms rustle. In the afternoon shorts and a T‑shirt are enough; for the evening a light scarf is recommended as the temperature drops moderately. Similar mild readings were reported on September 5 in Alcúdia: Cloudy, mild and cozy — 5 September in Mallorca.
Perceived temperatures and comfort
The feels-like temperatures are slightly above the official numbers: around 23.7 °C in the morning, up to 28.2 °C during the day and about 24.7 °C in the evening. That means: warm, without becoming claustrophobic — ideal for harbour cafés or a walk on the old town wall, where the wind intermittently breaks up the cloud cover.
Air pressure, humidity and wind — the weather for boats
With air pressure around 1023 hPa and humidity at about 57 %, the clouds remain present but cause no trouble. The wind blows from east-southeast (around 113°) with an average of 6.4 m/s — so the pier will be lively today: sails set, a few stronger gusts, and the gentle clapping of lines to the rhythm of the waves.
Rain? Hardly expected
Despite the grey patches in the sky, the probability of precipitation is minimal. A similar dry pattern was noted on August 24 in Alcúdia on 24 August 2025: Cloudy, light northeast wind — but dry. So pack a bag for an outing — you can safely leave the umbrella at home, unless you need it as a sun hat for the particularly bright moment when the sun peeks through the clouds.
Tips for the day in Alcúdia
What to do today: breakfast at the Plaça, where at 8:00 the smell of freshly brewed coffee meets the sea air and the calls of seagulls provide the soundscape, a scene also captured in Alcúdia on August 10: Sun, Sea and a Touch of Summer Evening. Fish lovers should go to the small harbour market at 9:00 — fish is still sold directly off the boats. Cyclists will find ideal conditions on the flatter coastal paths to the north: the cloud cover protects from continuous sun, and a tailwind shows up occasionally.
For families: a beach day is possible, but plan activities that are fun in the shade too — building sandcastles, collecting shells or a small picnic on the waterfront promenade. For photographers: the diffused light provides soft contrasts, perfect for portraits and harbour scenes.
My little impression of the morning: Around 8:00 at the Plaça: the barista already knows the regular, an older lady strokes a dog's ear, and the seagulls loudly debate the best fish source. In between: the salty hint of the sea, which makes the coffee taste a little more Mediterranean.
Looking ahead
Even though September 19 stays friendly, a change is possible in the coming days. A quick glance at the AEMET forecast for Alcúdia before longer outings doesn't hurt. But for today: get out of the room, onto the promenade, and enjoy the mix of clouds, wind and sea air — Alcúdia shows its relaxed side.
In short: not a perfect beach day for sunbathers, but a very good day for explorers, coffee drinkers and those who prefer to hear the sea in motion rather than sweat on a bleached beach towel.
